M326 came with 3 DPU capable engines, why not take one of their engines and swap 7027 onto M327 tomorrow?
A friend of mine had suggested that M326's extra unit is intended to replace 7027. Was 3410 facing eastward on M326?
That being said, it doesn't sound like 7027 had a major breakdown, again I imagine a dead battery is a relatively easy fix. Wye the set and the other two problems can be ignored.

M326-05's trailing engine CSX #3410 was facing west & his mid dpu CSX engine #5320 was also facing west.
It sounds like 7027 gave G804-01 a lot of trouble. The locomotive reportedly was trail only, has been having persistent PTC issues, and had a dead battery. This is a rebuild, correct?
7027's headlights were working both on G804 and when L305 pulled the engines, but I thought both units shared a bus when MUed.
Given the "trail only" status of 7027, I wonder if they intend to wye the set as I imagine replacing batteries is something that could be done at Ensel.

Changing batteries can be a significant project outside of a shop setting. They will likely bring the power to GR, wye them and have the trail only be in trail position for the return east/south. They'll have a mobile crew jump start the engine and make sure it's ready to go for the outbound.
As far as just swapping power around, this is all handled by the Power Bureau, they have a plan to keep the motors moving where they are needed, so it's not always just as easy as swapping them around. Tonnage ratings, final destination, need to head towards a shop, are all details that are considered when locomotives are assigned to trains.

No at first I thought they were going to Plascore or maybe Hudsonville but then they came back about five minutes later. For some reason they ran down close to the signal and came back.
