Noppers. We are not on a shortline railroad, but a Class 1 railroad is pictured here.

GRHC - you know every night I can imagine he is in front of his computer screen sitting in his underwear swearing profusely and drinking Blatz beer combing the RailRoadFan website for grammatical errors.

Re: Where Is It?
That sounds correct. Photo is on the side of a building in town. Part of the depot that was torn down was remade into a 2D depot and is on the side of the building as well.

Caledonia, in Kent County, was served by the old New York Central, ex Michigan Central RR passenger train that ran between GR and Jackson until its final run April 30, 1959. It was Beeliner RDC.

Looks like the white church in the background is still there.
Re: Where Is It?
Searching historic railroad photos from Calidonia turned up this with a caption for the photo.

Where be it?
I've passed this trestle many times, but usually at night or when it was even more covered in foliage, and never noticed it till the other day. I had only been on the one off to the left in this photo.

Re: Where Is It?
That's correct, it's somewhere in the GR area. I do bike at night around Grand Rapids often....but where is this trestle?

Re: Where Is It?
Is this just north of the former Lakeshore and Michigan Southern bridge over the Grand River at Wyoming?
I recall a spur went north off the LSMS to the former plaster mill. I believe the bridge in the background is on the Kent Trails pathway.

Re: Where Is It?
That sure looks like the spot Standard. On the attached image, I was standing near the circled red area. Just behind me, the tracks seem like they'd have ran straight into the side of a very steep hill. There's some drainage pipes up the hill. Wondering if this spot had the land area raised after the plaster mill was removed? Unless the tracks skirted just to the east of the hill and continued further north towards Butterworth before becoming level with the land.
Also, I see another spur circled in green. Any idea if that was another mining site?
