Stories of a vehicle colliding with an Amtrak train this morning in Mishawaka on Hendricks Street are coming out of South Bend.
On Facebook, it is being reported that one person was killed, and that there was a crossing activation failure.
I've also read that the train involved was train #29.
Ryan Dustin posted this photo.
At this time, this is the most complete story I can find.

"A crossing activation failure". Words no maintainer wants to read. Hopefully we will get more information on this incident in the coming days. South Bend is a quiet zone so drivers do not have the benefit of trains blowing for every approaching crossing.

Guy ran around the gates and additional barriers put in place and got cut in half by Amtrak. Yolojustalurker66 wrote: ↑Sat May 15, 2021 6:17 pm"A crossing activation failure".
