CSX L305 Customers
CSX L305 Customers
This is what I see running from Lansing east to South Lyon in terms of customers. Let me know if I am missing anything. What I am interested in is the volume of traffic from each of these locations for both L305 and unit trains.
E. Lansing - T.B. Simon Power Plant (maybe still for occassional large loads, not longer getting coal).
Webberville - ADM Grain
Webberville - Andersons - Fertilizer
Webberville - Greenfiber - ?????
Webberville - disconneted old siding behind Lil' Dusty's online auctions - what did this service and when was it removed.
Fowlerville - Rhe-Tec
Fowlerville - Kem Krest
Fowlerville - Fowlerville Farm Services - very rare fertilizer car - haven't seen a car in several years
Fowlerville - Shell Lubricants Fowlerville
Fowlerville - Asahi Kasei Plastics - 45 cars on the tracks. How many are simply used as storage and how many do they normally get in and out?
Howell - Thomspon Plastics - spur now disconnected.
Howell - Thai Summit America - scrap metal
Howell - Novera - old IP plant sput - disconnected
AnnPere - GLC interchange
Green Oak - Fortek - Tanker on siding.
Green Oak - Peaker Services

Re: CSX L305 Customers
All of the cars are "in service", but there are some definitely being stored on site awaiting unloading. They are also super particular about what spot each car goes to, which is why the local will often be stuck there for hours pulling, spotting and shifting cars to different places. They need their own car mover or locomotive, but don't have the space on property to build it, or the will to do so, or both.

AsahiKasei has had a trackmobile for a while now. 2 years or so.Saturnalia wrote: ↑Wed Sep 13, 2023 8:57 pmAll of the cars are "in service", but there are some definitely being stored on site awaiting unloading. Re: CSX L305 Customers
They expanded the AK site in late 2019, and hired a private switching company (American Track) to move cars on site for them. All CSX does is pickup and drop off M-W-F.Saturnalia wrote: ↑Wed Sep 13, 2023 8:57 pmAll of the cars are "in service", but there are some definitely being stored on site awaiting unloading. This would explain the switching lead that they put in which extends towards cemetary road next to the CSX tracks.ATTM4150 wrote: ↑Thu Sep 14, 2023 8:34 amThey expanded the AK site in late 2019, and hired a private switching company (American Track) to move cars on site for them. Re: CSX L305 Customers
Shell in Fowlerville is now Pennzoil Quaker State.
Average car breakdown as follows:
Andersons - during growing season can be from 1-20 per day. Sometimes they are difficult to keep up with, serviced daily. They also receive the occasional unit train of potash when it isn't broken down into chunks in Chicago.
ADM is sporadic with car load traffic for the late spring and summer. Can see a handful at any given time come thru, but they generally are unit train outbound from Oct-May. Averaging 1 train per week of 90 cars. (Handled separate from L305)
Rhe-Tech is steady, usually 2-6 cars per week, serviced Tues/Thurs.
Kemkrest just started this year getting more involved and have had 3 cars on site at one time. Still low volume by the standard, would say 1 car a month at this point, Tues/Fri.
Fowlerville farm is currently not being serviced.
Pennzoil is also steady, but their service is largely dictated by the time it takes them to unload cars. Some of their product can take a week or better to unload due to viscosity, so they are usually switched Mondays or Fridays, typically 1 car in, but they hold 1 off spot car. Have 3 cars in at a time and can unload 2. Have seen up to 10 at Lansing yard waiting their turn to be taken out.
Asahi handles their own switching as stated above, can hold 55 cars comfortably. Volume is typically 3-6 per day, Mon/Wed/Fri.
Thai Summit is hot and cold, but are usually good for random inbound cars to add to their storage tracks and send out blocks of 3-6 once a week or so. Mon/Wed/Fri.
GLC has been the sticking point lately with the traffic being steady to high but they are not able to run daily to swap cars. Would say the average flow is 25-30 cars a day in and out, but usually ends up either being a big cut of 70 or so being brought out at one time and waiting for them to pull and swap. Averaging 2 days a week they get there to do so.
Fortech in Green Oak is another low volume, where they get a car maybe once a quarter, but they have had 2-3 in at a time over the last year as well. Another slow draining product, so it can be 2-3 weeks between a car showing up and being released. Served Tues/Fri.
Peaker has only had 1 unit in since last fall and it sat there for 6 months. Betting they do more road service and parts via mail these days than anything.

Ahh so they did finally pull the trigger on that one - sure explains why the local out that way isn't as slammed for time as they used to be!ATTM4150 wrote: ↑Thu Sep 14, 2023 8:34 amThey expanded the AK site in late 2019, and hired a private switching company (American Track) to move cars on site for them.
