Re: Shortline Train Location Updates April 2022
Busy day at the GRE. Lots of cars in the yard and on the interchange. Probably a big train today.
1223 OUT! President and Founder of the Buck Creek Central, the Rolling River Route! (2012-2017) President and Founder of the Lamberton Valley Railroad, The Tin Plate Road! Proudly railfanning with Asperger's since 1996.

Grand Elk south through Byron Center at 12:21pm. WAMX 4124, WAMX 4125, and about 17 cars, almost all covered hoppers. Concrete crew is working next door, and all 8 of them stopped to watch the train go by, 2 of them recording the train on their phones

Southbound ducking under I-96 at 12:40, with 9 coils, 3 boxcars, a tankcar and a load of plate. One coil hood still said C&O on the end! 1751 for power today.LansingRailFan wrote: ↑Tue Apr 19, 2022 11:33 amJAIL ran with one unit NB today and 12 cars - North at Saginaw Street overpass at 10:18 on CSX trackage.

Re: Shortline Train Location Updates April 2022
Thanks for the update. Looks like they just went to CSX today and then switched out the train in Cavanaugh Yard so it was all nice n orderly. When I saw the set out yesterday it was all jumbled up. I’m surprised they didn’t run overnight but maybe had to get down to NS again.GP30M4216 wrote: ↑Tue Apr 19, 2022 12:42 pmSouthbound ducking under I-96 at 12:40, with 9 coils, 3 boxcars, a tankcar and a load of plate. I appreciate your updates! That actually helped me find this train. Also, the consist was not as orderly as I presented, so "jumble" is probably still a good descriptor. I just summarized the car counts for simplicity.LansingRailFan wrote: ↑Tue Apr 19, 2022 2:55 pmThanks for the update. Grand Elk north through Byron Center at 5:05pm. WAMX 4206, WAMX 4125, WAMX 4124 and 35 cars. Good mix of all types.
Train was back south approx 11:20pm. Guessing 80ish cars.

The ballast hoppers parked near 7 Mile on Marquette Rail just north of Grand Rapids have moved to the spir on the west side of the main.
In other news I videoed the Northbound train at Alpine just south of Sparta at lunch today.
