Even with arriving late into GR last night, 371 just cleared Watson Street at 7:25. Remarkable!

D70024 west shortly behind Amtrak p37124 this morning, by Saugatuck at 8:50am.
Also, dispatcher mentioned a K238 out of Chicago for Flint, windmill train sometime this afternoon, but hadn't left Chicago yet.
There's also a N95624 that left Chicago this morning, should be getting near MI soon.

Y106 eastbound at Fox. Looked like 3 boxes, a CH for Cascade and surprisingly, no tanks today.

Train shows as just arriving at Barr, 1050 ct. Power into Chicago was UP 6716 (CNW patch) and UP 5863. Train was DPU so, unfortunately, I think the 6716 will be cut and 5863 will be the only power through MI. 40 loads.

For those who still care about it though... UP 5863 is a UP Wings AC44 instead of the plain yellow with the small UP shield. :)
This is my life. There are many like it, but this one is mine.

If this is a problem get used to it.

N95622 almost to Wells, D80224 at Wells waiting to hop on, and sounds like a D80124 is up around West Olive doing something, maybe getting empties to go south?

Haven't heard anything about K238 still, haven't had headphones on too much today. Gotta guess 7-8 hours at least from Barr to GR.

Well, not D70724, as they don't run on Fri or Saturday nights. Although I don't think last nights D70723 ever left GR to go back east, unless I missed a horn while trying to sleep.
Good to hear you are in town LSRC, although now Alpena will have diddly in the way of coverage.

My grandparents got that covered until they head to Phoenix for the winter in October....

This is actually the first time in a decade I've not gone up to Alpena over summer... :(

Yeah, but I never really contributed to the daily updates of the Lake State, so I don't really think that we're missing much.

Living in an apartment along M-45 near Standale. Strategically situated so it's a quick jog in either direction to downtown, the C&M, and Wyoming. I think that I can hear most trains from my apartment complex.

Hi, neighbor! Image

And yes, you can hear trains rolling through Grandville from here. Some days, when the wind is blowing just right, it sounds like they are just a mile or two away.

D802 clear west end Hudsonville (heading east). Hmmm...

Edit: Sounds like they are bringing light power to Wyoming yard and then catching a crew van back to West Olive.

I was wondering where that N956 went...I didn't think it would take them that long to change headend crews then tie the helpers on......

When they dump the pushers at Elmdale, do they stop to un couple or do they do it "on the fly"?

You know, that makes sense now. I guess it must be the full coal train because the yard dispatcher was talking about them "dumping off the CSX power." I heard them clear Vriesland loud and clear but I never heard the detector at 19.1 go off, so I didn't know how many axles/feet they were.

They come to a complete stop to cut the power off (shot from Pratt Lake Rd):

Should be D802 on the headend (as a crew), with D801 on the rear pushing.

Thanks for answering my pusher question.....I know some railroads used to do it on the fly - that would've been cool to see :)
