Q32622 east at Bangor 14:24pm, BNSF pushers on rear.

Railfan taking pictures of train while on cam. ​i do sorta wish he'd have waited until the train was gone around the curve before he trespassed across the tracks. wonder if he knew people are in last car watching him. Better yet..the crossing for Main St wasn't even 50 feet down the tracks...

W00122 now west at Glenlord Rd/Stevensville. Just how often do these tracks need a geometry train? FRA was just here a few months ago, Sperry has been through since then. Sure, these tracks host Amtrak, but traffic is fairly light overall. Why so often?

W001 is doing the sidings from the sound of it, which haven't been geometried in a few years. But the CSX train is usually up here twice a year.

A bunch of track has been replaced around Hartford with the bent old track laying alongside the new track. Maybe it was checking that.

Track geometry is usually taken multiple times annually, often with hy-rail trucks. Similarly, ultrasonic rail testers cruise the territories constantly - many lines are test just about every month to ensure geometry and rail health are in good order. This also helps spot defects sooner, and cuts down on the wave of defects which would be written up behind less-frequent inspections. Much easier for the track maintenance folks to be given a steady stream of defects than a couple-times-per-year flood they then struggle to handle. Depending on the type and severity of any defects found, slow orders may be issued right away or 30 days given for corrective action.

Lots of crossing malfunctions on the CSX GR Terminal sub from 2nd St to 6th street going on as of 1700. Maybe has something to do with the recent power outages?
