Well done on those South Shore photos, KD!
Meanwhile...
8 years - yes EIGHT - ago today, was the inaugural revenue run of Amtrak's new ACS-64 "Sprinter" electrics. Class leader #600 looks resplendent on a beautiful Connecticut morning as it hustles a typical consist of Amfleet cars south over the Northeast Corridor, not far from Stony Creek. Time flies, just like the Sprinters. They have earned their keep over former PRR and NH rails. The classic cut stone arch bridge really adds to this scene. Feb. 8, 2014.

King by Jonathon Leese, on Flickr
After shoving a string of loaded wheat hoppers into town, MQT #2042 crosses the Flat River with 8 empties as it heads back towards Grand Rapids. King Milling is the GRE's largest customer and was founded here on the banks of the river in the 1890s. 2/10/2022

Marquette Rail #2042 is filling in for Grand Rapids Eastern #2104 while the latter is up in Manistee for traction motor work. Still sporting its old-school MQT logo, #2042 is looking pretty ratty these days, but it's not orange. With 8 cars in tow, the borrowed Geep is heading west along the old GTW near Lowell. 2/10/2022

Fuller Diamond by Jonathon Leese, on Flickr
After waiting for the northbound Marquette Rail Z151 to clear, 2042 clatters across the CSX diamond with it's train. The crew will then place the outbounds on the CSX and GDLK interchange tracks, park the engine in the barn, and call it a day. 2/10/2022

Canadian National 2-6-0 Mogul #89 meets Norfolk & Western 4-8-0 Mastadon #475 at Carpenters on the Strasburg Railroad. This was my first ever ride behind a steam locomotive. 7/24/2006

Re: Daily Uploads
Can someone enlighten me real quick, I don’t know much about MQT and how they run, but what makes 2042 special? is it rare that it’s running since it was in storage or because it’s not in the G&W paint? I’m just curious, that’s all.

Nothing special about it. It's just rare to have a locomotive on the Grand Rapids Eastern (who only ever has 1 unit) that isn't GR 2104.David Collins wrote: ↑Sat Feb 12, 2022 11:44 amCan someone enlighten me real quick, I don’t know much about MQT and how they run, but what makes 2042 special? is it rare that it’s running since it was in storage or because it’s not in the G&W paint?
