I finally have a layout!
Well, after many years of wanting one, I finally have an HO layout! A fellow railfan and I along with my grandfather got the supplies and have been busy building it over the last few days. Hard work but well worth it!
It's a U shape with a 4x8 making up the bulk of it. A 2'x4' comes off one end connecting with a 2x8 pennisula. The 4x8 has a double track main with some switching. The 2'x4' is the yard lead and industrial lead, and the 2x8 will house the yard, shops and industrial switching.

Nice layout! Love those Conrail units. The biggest loco I have on my layout is a C44-9W, must be nice to have those SD70's. Enjoy having HO scale as it is really nice to work with, its not too big or too small.

Justin, the big units are SD80MACs, not 70s. They don't make 'em much bigger!
tsinoms, the CSX engine is 1141, an MP15DC by Atlas.
Thanks for the complements guys! Once I make more progress I'll have to stage a shot of all my CSX and Conrail power!

I thought at first they were SD80MACS but wasn't sure, my bad. I still am learning the loco model by looking at it.

Wish I could add some Conrail GP15-1s but no one makes them. The Walther's Trainline GP15's just aren't nice enough.......

The rear of the SD80MAC is similar to the SD90MAC, except the sandbox or whatever doesn't go all the way to the top of the unit.
It's a nice looking layout, Jon. Well, so far anyway...in my experience the hard part tends to be all the boring/not-so-exciting stuff, such as everything after choosing a track plan and before starting scenery...but the hard work is part of what makes the finished (or more finished than it was before) product much more enjoyable. I'm looking forward to seeing your progress (assuming you'll share that with us)...
