CSX Cantilever and Signal Bridges in Michigan

Here is a current list of Cantilever, Bridge, and Bracket style signal installations around Michigan on CSXT.

Detroit Subdivision
Harbough & Union Belt Line - Detroit - PM era Cantilever w/ no lights for westbounds at Delray

Plymouth Subdivision
Between Sheldon road and the Saginaw Sub diamond (on Plymouth Sub in Plymouth) - Cantilever for eastbound advance signal for diamond (Mid 60s)
Beck Road and GR Sub - Plymouth - PM era Cantilever for westbounds (West End Beck)
Green Oak, MI on Plymouth Subdivision - west of South Lyon - C&O Style Cantilever installed on a graded curve because trains would not be able to see mast signals at this location.

Grand Rapids Terminal Subdivision
Just east of Godfrey Street in Grand Rapids - PM era Cantilever Signal for eastbounds on the main track

Saginaw Subdivision
Goddard Road and Saginaw Sub - Romulus - Double Mast Cantilever (1978, Chessie era) (North End Double Track)
12 Mile & Saginaw Subdivision - Novi - C&O style Cantilever Signal (North End Novi Siding)
Beck Road and Saginaw Sub. - Wixom - C&O Style Cantilever Signal (South End South Lincoln Siding)
North End Grand Blanc siding - Saginaw Sub for northbounds
Burton - North of Bristol St. crossing - for northbounds
Flint - South Kearsley junction - Cantilevers (2 total, installed c. 1972)
Flint - North Kearsley junction - 1 Cantilever for northbound movements (installed c. 1972)
Flint - Flint River (just north of the Richfield Rd crossing) 1 Cantilever for northbounds


A total of 14 bridges remain on the doubletrack Detroit Subdivison between the EAS Eckles Road in Livonia and the WAS P Company Jct. in Dearborn, including both intermediate and absolute signals.

P Company Junction - Dearborn - 2 Bridges
North of Tireman in Detroit - Bridge (intermediate, out of service replaced with "hoods")
Junction with Oak Yard & West Detroit Branch 3 total: (1 at Plymouth Rd. and 2 between Burt Rd. crossing and Evergreen Road overpass in Detroit)
1/2 way between Beech Daly and Telegraph - 1 (intermediate)
Middlebelt Road - 2 Bridges
Farmington Road - 2 Bridges
Levan Road - (1 intermediate)
Eckles Road - in Plymouth - 2 Bridges

Other CSX signal bridges:
West End Howell Siding near Dearborn St - Plymouth Sub
CSX Saginaw Sub (Intermediate) - Burton, MI halfway between Atherton Road and Lippincott Blvd. near Chambers Rd.

Bracket Style:
South End Grand Blanc Siding - The only remaining Bracket type signal structure on CSX in Michigan is located on the Saginaw Subdivision in Grand Blanc, MI for southbound trains at the south end of Grand Blanc siding, and is easily visible from Grand Blanc Road.

Plymouth Sub

Heres some photos of the one in Green Oak. Its worth the six dollars if you can get a train to come by while in there.

Its in a State Park but I found a way around a back entrance, and if you jog or ride a bike you are aloud in free.

The $6 is probably his cost in gas from where he lives in South Lyon to the state park and back.

My ranger doesn't suck gas that bad gosh South Lyon to Charlotte and back on a half tank is not bad.
