Sounds like Z151 has departed from north of Turner for Wyoming yard. Blowing for Ann St right now.

GRE currently working Lowell, shoving a big cut of BNSF hoppers into King. Rare for a Sunday!

Almost drove by there on my way back from Meijer, but I figured nothing was going on. I don't think I have ever seen the GRE on Sunday. Maybe they need the space for more hoppers at Ann Street.

Didn't work Friday due to crew availability
Re: Michigan Short Line Updates - June 2019
MMRR Alma crew is working GR tomorrow. Crew goes on duty @ 0700 in Alma with a drive across.

If they do, it wont be the Alma crew. They have to take the 89 car grain train offline to the GLC tomorrow, as well as short work to clean the line. There's a possibility of them working over there thursday, but I wont know until tomorrow.kd_1014 wrote:Will the GRE operate tmw or Thursday then?Patriot wrote:GRE - EB Leonard at 11:00 with 15 CHs

Re: Michigan Short Line Updates - June 2019
Sounds good. Does the other crew start working a bit later or earlier? I'm trying to time it so I can wake up and head over to Ann St. on my bike.HESR3868 wrote:If they do, it wont be the Alma crew. Both crews, I'm pretty sure, get to Ann St. later. The Alma crew is usually there by, I think SD80 said around 10am, but don't quote me on it. It's about an Hour and a half drive, so after the crew got paper work around and filled out their track warrants, they would be out of the office by 8 8:30ish and on the road.
Today MMRR was on duty here in Alma to take off 100+ cars to the GLC. Train should be into Alma to be interchanged by 11am. GLC is gonna tie onto the 329 at Ely St, then shove uptown to double onto the grain train and shoot south. MMRR is gonna tie onto the single lumber car in North End Wright Siding and most likely take that to Bear Truss in St. Louis.

When the Muskegon crew works the GRE, they're usually moving before 9 am. When the Alma crew works the GRE, it's usually around 10-11 am before they get moving, accounting for the longer drive.
The West Michigan left 1 empty tank at the interchange for D700 in Hartford last night, and spent several hours switching out many of the 30+ tank cars online currently.

Muskegon crew reports to Ann St at 7 am. Alma crew reports to Alma at 7 am and then drives to Ann St. It's still that way AFAIK Which crew works the GR depends on who is available.

No matter where the crew works, unless otherwise the Alma crew goes on duty at 0700 in Alma.Raildudes dad wrote:Muskegon crew reports to Ann St at 7 am. Alma crew reports to Alma at 7 am and then drives to Ann St. It's still that way AFAIK Which crew works the GR depends on who is available.

Drove up to Petoskey this evening and saw a covered hopper in the siding at Mancelona. First car I’ve seen there in a very long time.

Seems like they get less than 30 cars per year
