Not sure if this will be determined as the cause or not, but it's worth pointing out that we had a thunderstorm with high winds and hail come through at about the same time this derailment happened.

Could have been a factor. Stack some empties up and they act like a sail. I've had them blow over in the van site at Livernois yard. Scary as hell.Bellevue_Guy wrote:Not sure if this will be determined as the cause or not, but it's worth pointing out that we had a thunderstorm with high winds and hail come through at about the same time this derailment happened.

Reports are it being 233. Very possible it blew over and then stacked up.

That rail takes on plenty of traffic. I sure NS inspects it every month but with all these containers anymore doesn't take much and yes weather could have been a major factor especially wind

Bet they're having fun in the 'ol Seneca county clay. That stuff will bury entire tractors this time of year if not frozen. The Great Black Swamp never really went away the bich just hides laying in wait til winter and spring.

I’m thinking broken wheel on this derailment.
