It is my understanding this was the GTW manifest schedule from late steam era until around 1980 (source: Grand Trunk Western by Patrick C. Dorin, 1977).
Battle Creek - Thornton Jct.
Thornton Jct. - Battle Creek
Battle Creek - Chicago (Elsdon)
Chicago (Elsdon) - Port Huron
Port Huron - Chicago (Elsdon)
Chicago (Elsdon) - Port Huron
Port Huron - Chicago (Elsdon)
Port Huron - Chicago (Elsdon)
Toledo - Port Huron
Port Huron - Toledo
Durand - Toledo
Toledo - Durand
Flint - Toledo
Toledo - Flint
Battle Creek - Detroit
Detroit - Battle Creek
Chicago (Elsdon) - Detroit
Detroit - Chicago (Elsdon)
Muskegon - Detroit
Detroit - Muskegon

My notes on the on the locals are compiled from several sources and I can't couch for 100% accuracy. I will post them later.

This is what I show as locals in 1976. Again, it comes from multiple sources and its accuracy is questionable so comments and corrections are welcomed:

Battle Creek - South Bend
Chicago - South Bend
Detroit - Pontiac
Pontiac - Durand
Durand - Ionia
Grand Rapids - Ionia
Grand Rapids - Coopersville
Muskegon - Grand Rapids
Detroit - Nolan
Detroit - Richmond
Toledo - Trenton
Pontiac - Lakeland
Pontiac - Pigeon
Pontiac - Richmond
Durand - Greenville

This is cool stuff Don! Find it nifty that 500 and 501 are still numbers that CN uses for the Port Huron/Battle Creek locals that run to Durand.

Add to that manifest list trains 380 (Port Huron - Detroit) and 381 (Detroit - Port Huron). These were some of the rare anomalies on the GTW as the even number ran west and the odd ran east. This pair ran until a bit beyond 1994 when all of the 380 series trains were moved to the Mount Clemens subdivision. With the opening of the tunnel, additional symbols were needed as traffic tripled on the sleepy MTC sub.
