Does anyone have a record of the disposition of the ex-D&TSL locomotives after the merger with GT.

I know #50 is on the Bay Colony Mellis Branch as 1751.

#47 is on the end of a track rotting in the fields of Ohio after spending time in Indiana and Hillsdale.

I can't find much about the other units though.

If it is any help, I believe the ex DTSL that were acquired by GT were given the number prefix 60. Also remember that due to a different type of brake system, that the DTSL units were not M.U. ed with GT units.

47 went to Pigeon River first then merged into Indiana Northeastern.

Do you know where in OH it is located?

Here is what I have been able to find on the disposition of the ex-DTSL locomotives.

#41 to GT #6041 Appears to have been retired from GT in mid-1980's. No photogrpahic record of this serial number available after 1982.

#42 to GT #6042 Appears to have been retired from GT in mid-1980's. No photogrpahic record of this serial number available after 1982.

#43 to GT #6043 Appears to have been retired from GT in mid-1980's. No photogrpahic record of this serial number available after January 1983.

#44 to GT #6044 (?????) Appears to have been retired from GT in mid-1980's. Still number #44 on 1/11/85 at Flat Rock.

#45 to GT #6045 (?????) Appears to have been retired from GT in early 1990's. Still number #45 on 1/11/195 at Flat Rock.

#46 to GT #6046 Supposedly was repainted to GT Blue #6046, then sold to Georgia Central and renumbered #1713 to Heart of Georgia as GC #1713. Required to be scrapped or upgraded as part of G&W Consent Agreement with EPA over emissions issues for rebuilt locomotives.

#47 to GT #6047 (?????) I don't know if this was ever repainted / renumberd. I see no photographic evidence of it being in GT paint / number. Went to Pigeon River Railroad #47, to Indiana Boxcar #47 (stored in Hillsdale), to Ohi-Rail #47. Appears stored south of Clay Pike Rd in Derwent, Oh with a caboose.

#48 to GT #6048 Supposedly made it to the early 1990s on the GT, but I can't find any photogrpahic evidence of this unit beyond 1981.

#49 to GT #6049 Repainted into GT Blue as #6049. Lasted until at least 1990 on GT before being shipped to the Georgia Central as 6049. Went to RailLink by 2006 as 1756 and was scrapped in 2008. Also may have been on the SOR as well.

#50 to GT #6050 Work for a toursit railroad in the mid-1980's before going to Bay Colony. Now Bay Colony #1701, to Bay Colony 1750, runs infrequently on a line now serving a single cement customer.

#116 to GT #6116 (???????) Repainted black at some point with a white #116. Supposedly retired mid-1980's. Sent to Louisville Scrap E 1987?

#117 to GT #6117 (???????) Never seen sporting #6117 Supposedly retired mid-1980's. Sent to Louisville Scrap E 1987? One photo date 1993 in Port Huron, but I feel it may be mid-dated.

#118 to GT #6118 (???????) Supposedly retired mid-1980's. Sent to Louisville Scrap E 1987? Misdated photo lists until in Detroit in 2008 in same paint.

#119 to GT #6119 Was repainted #6119 Last photogrpahic evidence on GT was in 1986. Listed as going to Rail Switching Service #451, but no photograhic evidence seems to exist of this move.

#120 to GT #6120 Was repainted and renumbered to GT #6120. To RSS #402. Last photogrpahic evidence in 2010 in Mobile, Al sitting out of service.

#121 to GT #6121. Supposedly to RSS #401 (2nd), then to ITRX #401, to WRIX #401, to Mexico.

The only units that were not able to be used with GT units were 116-118 as they were not MU equiped. I think all of the other units were capable of and were utilized with GT locomotives.

I have a photo of 116 in service at Battle Creek taken 6/8/83. It was still lettered DTSL on the hood but had 116 on the cab side in big white GTW numerals.
I have a photo of 41 in Battle Creek outside the shop (not in the dead line) taken late October 1983 still in full DTSL paint and not renumbered.
I have a photo of 49 in service at Pontiac 10/29/86 renumbered 6049 in full GTW paint.
Just confirming info above and putting a couple dates out there.

None of the GP7s could be MU'd with anything other than other DTSL GP7s. The exceptions were 6046 and 6049, which GTW rebuilt with 26L brake stands and repainted. Both of them served into the 90s long after the other GP7s were retired.

It is "rumored" these two units were rebuilt to GP9 standards (1750 hp)
