Michael and all, keep those good industrial siding pictures coming
I'm with you Buster, I haven't seen rail car service at Bond or Inland in Pontiac for that matter in a long time.

Yes, Bond Plywood on E Saratoga Street, east of Hilton Road, looking south. in Ferndale, Oakland County. North of the west end of Moterm. The spur is east off the connection with the CN/Amtrak Line.Michael wrote:I've had sneezes that lasted longer than that Where is it?

I did see a boxcar on that spur a couple times this year. Bond Plywood rarely gets much anymore.

Is this the old paper plant in Howell?

It is Howell. I am not certain if it is the old paper plant.

Ok, it's formerly International Paper.

Re: Where Is It?
Yes, its Howell, Livingston County. Looking south from McPherson Park Drive in the foreground. The spur was off the connection with the CSXT RR main line. Final run of the remaining old C&O railway passenger train nos. 11, 12, 14 and 15, the Pere Marquette, between Detroit and Grand Rapids with stop in Howell (train nos. 14 and 15 only) was made on April 30, 1971. The former International Paper Plant was closed last year.Michael wrote:It is Howell. I am not certain if it is the old paper plant.

Re: Where Is It?
Michigan Shore either on the line that went to Sappi or the one towards Nugent Sand in Muskegon? Power line poles look familiar.

Looking west down the Sappi branch, but where. There is a hint in the middle of the picture. It is far easier to see in person and for a number of years this spot was very busy.railrod1949 wrote:This looking east along the Michigan Shore RR spur to the former Sappi Paper plant in Muskegon.EWRice wrote:In Michigan

Is that where the GTW ferry dock track crossed?

Re: Where Is It?
Correct. Approximately one rail length from where I stood is two short sections of rail that replaced the GTW diamond. The discoloration in the grass is where the diamond was.

Re: Where Is It?
Yes, its the diamond crossing of the Michigan Shores RR old Sappi Paper plant spur and the old GTW ferry dock track with the old GTW RR ferry on the right just west of McCracken Street and just east of the old Sappi Paper Plant site. The Lake Express car ferry dock is about a mile east of McCracken Street. The old GTW RR ferry dock was at the foot of McCracken Street. All in Muskegon, Muskegon County.EWRice wrote:Correct.
