Yes, indeed, it's the Detroit Zoo at Woodward Avenue and 10 Mile Road, Royal Oak, Oakland County. looking east. The Detroit Zoo RR trains staging area (actually located in Huntington Woods) is on east side of the concreate wall pictured above. 10 Mile Road and I-696 are both to the right (not visible). The Detroit Zoo RR will begin its 87th season in a week from this Monday. I rode on the Zoo train a few times in the past.Pixl wrote:Detroit Zoo?Michael wrote:

Not the West side of Battle Creek but west of Battle Creek. While the SD50 survived into the NS SD40E rebuild program and the track remains in service, the buildings in the pictures have been demolished.railrod1949 wrote:In SE Michigan? Further west. Penn Central once loading piggyback trailers here.railrod1949 wrote:Somewhere between Galesburg and Augusta with M-96 at the right in PatAzo's shot above.
Penn Central RR's Mosel Yard. Kalamazoo, actually in Kalamazoo Township, Kalamazoo County looking south across W. Mosel Avenue. Mosel Yard office was on the NE corner of Mosel Avenue and the former GR&I track an d the old Eaton Plant site was on the SW corner of W. Mosel Avenue and the track. Final run forever of the remaining passenger train on the former Pennsylvania Railroad between Fort Wayne, IN and Mackinaw City with stop in Kalamazoo was on Friday, September 1, 1961 Fridays only northbound Fort Wayne to Mack City and Tuesday, September 5, 1961 Sundays only southbound, Mack City to Fort Wayne with stop in Kalamazoo.PatAzo wrote:Further west. Yes, Mosel Yard. That is the old yard office on the left. Across Mosel on the right it the old Eaton plant. A slightly more current view was in Where Is It back in April after both buildings were demolished.railrod1949 wrote:Penn Central RR's Mosel Yard. Kalamazoo.PatAzo wrote:Further west.
