How does one display an image in a post like this without having the image uploaded to a site (i.e. without using a URL)? Is this allowed here?
I tried using the image tag , referencing the photos on my local machine, but Preview didn't pull up the photo.
Perhaps using a URL is the only way to do this.

You need to upload the image somewhere first. We have a gallery here with a 100 MB limit per member, feel free to send a photo in.

It worked. One thing is, the photo won't render during a Preview. You have to Submit it to see it.
