399 started to pull as 271 was going by, the intent was to have him follow 271 from Hardy.
I heard him call the dispatcher and commented that he was having problems with the power, it just wasn't pulling very well and he was down to 2 mph as he was climbing the hill out of Brantford.
He told the dispatcher that he didn't think he was going to make it and suggested he'd have to reduce the train.
The dispatcher said to hold on and he'd check with the Chief.
399 came to a stop and shortly after the dispatcher said the Chief said to keep going, not to reduce the train.
Of course by now with him being stopped and having lost what little momentum he did have there was no way he was going to get it going again.
The decision was then made to double the train to Paris so the conductor started walking back to make the cut.

While this was going on I heard the dispatcher say to NS 327 that he would be meeting 392 at Paris west.

10:30
NS 327
NS 8427 - NS 8988

11:21

Finally 587 was able to get out of the yard after having been ready to go since 399 was starting to pull, before he stalled.

11:43
CN 587 backed out of the yard eastbound for Brant. Jct so he could head downtown on the Burford Spur.

It was getting dark when this photo was taken of him arriving, hense the slight blur. Did a little editing to lighten-up the shot so it wasn't so dark.

CN 398 was back onto his train and was pumping air while waiting for the conductor to walk back up when I took this shot.

398 departed at 18:26 and I headed home for the night.
