West Michigan scanners and cams

Unread post by TSS »

I think it's really amazing that our little corner of Michigan has several streaming scanners and webcams.

There's the 800-lb gorilla, the "superscanner" from amtrak1007, with a 490' antenna:

CSX 0808 (Road) - http://www.broadcastify.com/listen/feed/22783
CSX 3535 (GR Sub Dispatch) - http://www.broadcastify.com/listen/feed/23220
Grand Rapids Area Shortlines - http://www.broadcastify.com/listen/feed/24338

There's the new Bangor webcam, which is fun to watch. Are they rebroadcasting the audio from the superscanner road channel 0808?

Finally, there is my own scanner stream, based in St. Joseph, that includes CSX road and dispatch plus the Coast Guard and marine channels. It doesn't offer much this time of year that you can't hear on the other scanner streams, but in the summer, it is fun to listen to the boats scream at the swing bridge when it is closed for trains.

Are there any others to add to the list?

There's a St Joseph webcam, WSBT I think, but it's not really used much by railfans. Quick question on your scanner though, what is your range for the CSX traffic?
According to all known laws of aviation, there is no way a bee should be able to fly. Its wings are too small to get its fat little body off the ground. The bee, of course, flies anyway because bees don't care what humans think is impossible.

Vine to Gray dependably; Stevensville to Kirk and sometimes further when weather is good. Wish I could get more, but that is the best I can do from my house. Someday, I’ll figure out how to get a taller antenna! Tune in around Amtrak time and you’ll get a good idea of what you can hear under current atmospheric conditions.

You are correct on the superscanner audio. I was on the Bangor Cam chat a few nights ago, admin stated there's no audio, I mentioned to him that there's a live audio feed aka the superscanner, and he decided to rebroadcast it into his video feed.
Awesome that you have an audio feed down there, it'll be a good addition.
