Carleton MI

Tomorrow at 9 am I am going to Carleton to railfan the CSX, CN and IORY. How many trains do you think would I see from 9 am to 12 pm in Carleton? All I know is the CSX has 20-25 trains a day and CN has 1-2 trains a day. Do the trains in Carleton mostly run at night or is it like Wyandotte? Does Q241 and Q243 switch New Boston?

20-25 = 22.5 average. 1-2 = 1.5 average. 22.5+1.5=24. 9am - 12pm = 3 hours. 24 trains per day / 24 hours in a day * 3 hours you'll be there = 3 trains. 3 +/- 2 for lulls, so figure 1-5 trains during that time.
Just go and enjoy it, then come back with a trip report so we can document what trains run between 9am-noon on a typical Wednesday so other railfans can use that bit of info for a possible future trip to Carleton.

Since it is double track between Romulus & Alexis even with M/W work you should have seen SOMETHING ! Just bad luck I guess.

Yeah, though CSX always throws curveballs at us! I believe in Toledo, near Vickers, it climbs to 30-40 per day. Many trains to/from the Coal Docks, plus the two CN freights per day.
