We don't have good records for that. Probably one of the recent HUGE Q337s, and that doubled up coal empty from 1985, if they ran that from the plant instead if assembly in Wyoming Yard.

Added yet another one today. They're still coming every so often.

X335 has 203 cars tonight. Now 13 trains known over 200 cars. I doubt the Pere Marquette guys could have ever envisioned that!

EDIT: Seriously, if all that's going to happen is that I'm made fun of, then forget it. I said the train was at least half a mile long, which as someone who has just gotten into this hobby was probably the first time I'd ever witnessed the train wrap around an entire section of the inner-city like that blocking not just the eastern thoroughfares, but the northern ones, too.

I'm not at all unable to take teasing and needling, but if you all are going to be this Mean Girls cliquish...

A half a mile long is only 2,500 ft, maybe 30 cars long. These 200+ car trains are near 12,000 feet long.

And can block a lot of streets in GR and Kentwood at 10 mph :( It a real concern to emergency responders.

"Its a real concern to emergency responders." And why yes, CSX Cares....NOT! Its the bottom line that matters and emergency responders are somewhere down near the bottom along with the customers that are waiting for their freight.
See you next Saturday Tom?

You need to get out more.

Thank you, captain obvious.

I'll update it when I get home. Train from the other day to add as well.

Also, it was actually 227. Computer showed 223 sounds like by the DD Axle counts and my field count say otherwise

Well, today CSX operated a 205-car D906-31 from Plymouth to at least Lansing, where they likely set off a bunch of cars, but maybe picked up more, too. Known count of 205 cars between Plymouth and Ensel, however, so we'll go with that.

New entry in the first post:
9th Place: 205 cars
- Oct 31, 2016- D906-31. 7898, 7672, 2498

Added a couple of these new monster D-trains to the near-top of the list! And I've given up keeping track of every train over 200 cars because there have been over two dozen of them now with no end in sight. Just top 10 now

Google Street view may have caught one of these in motion back in September of 2015 in Lansing

It goes for at least a mile and a half

Added today's Q335-23 as the new 6th Place holder on the list, with 216 cars. This bumps the old 206-car doubled-up coal empty from the days of yore out of the top ten trains ever on this territory, based on car count.

Nice to see 334/335 back, and just as long as ever :!:
