I believe L507/508 are Flint-Flatrock.

In response to odds and ends above.

The SD60's seem to be the new "Geeps" on GTW. I would think their six axle trucks would restrict them in some places but apparently not. CN did buy some new used four axle GP38's recently from BNSF or someone but I have not seen them here. Not sure how many of the 4600 GP9m's are still running as I have not seen one in a long time on the Holly.

Intermodel 189 I recall being a train from Prince Rupert. For a while a few years ago it ran once a week. It usually returned the next day but I do not recall the train number. It always had a DPU on it, unlike most intermodal trains (or most trains) on the Holly.

The geeps from BNSF are being used to repay back horsepower hours. CN arranged to use the four-axle power.

CN purchased some geeps. They are numbered in the 4900 series.

A few of the 4600 series GP9Rs are still in service but are rumored to be retired soon. They seem to be used mostly in Wisconsin now.

Regarding the intermodal extras, don't even worry about them. They don't generate enough containers to have a dedicated train from Moterm to Chicago. Even Q116 is filled out with autoracks for Flat Rock.

The BNSF 2098 (Burlington Northern Painted) was used in Ontario this past summer. It became one of the local engines in Brantford, Ontario until last month.

Hey SD80MAC.

If 507 and 508 do originate and terminate at Flat Rock, I apologize.

I guess that makes more sense with the stop at Moterm.

I can’t remember ever seeing any loaded intermodal coming in or out of Flat Rock, only those that pass through on the shore sub. Flat Rock does have a ton of empty well cars being stored there right now. Some have been there for about a year now.

Was that me you are referring to? Anyways I know the Holly Sub very well and what runs on it. After all, it was the line that started it all for me. So here's a list of trains that run on it per day.

--Daily Freight Trains:
E251
Q116
L507 (Works Ferndale and Pontiac)
L508 (Works Pontiac and Ferndale, sometimes does not work Ferndale)
L515 (NB and SB)

L513 NB and SB (Doesn't run every day, and works different sections of line throughout the week)

6 Freights Total (6 Between Pontiac to Detroit, 4 between Pontiac to Durand), L513 and L515 only run Pontiac to Detroit)

--Daily Amtrak Trains: (Pontiac through Detroit)
Wolverine 351
352
353
354
355

6 Amtrak Trains Total

--As Needed Trains: These trains only run when needed, they have no schedule and run whenever the railroad needs them.
X507
E260 (Depends where routed to)
E270 (Depends where routed to)
E271
E280
E296
M356
X491
S756
Q118
Q119
Q189
Q190
X117

--To Sum it all up, on an average day, Between Pontiac to Detroit the CN Holly Sub will see 12-14 trains a day. Which includes L513 and L515 running North and Southbound. Typically 12 trains if L513 does not run south of Pontiac. If L513 does run south, then 14 trains
--Between Pontiac and Durand, the CN Holly Sub will see 4 trains on average each day.

OK, since this was posted there are updates to these trains! As of recent (2024), trains 507/508 are running between Flat Rock and Flint! The CN "GTW Heritage" SD70M-2 #8952 and CN SD70M-2 #8859 are working this train!!!! I have yet to catch! :!: Alright, is it true only one set of power starts/ends at opposite ends? If 8952 is leading from Flat Rock one day, would this reverse power return to Flat Rock the next day? :?: Another set of power must run each train the opposite direction the same day! Today (Sat. January 6) 8952 was trailing south from Flint! I don't think this power came by earlier today because last night it headed north! In this case (if 8952 stays on these trains), 8952 should lead north from Flat Rock this Sunday, Tuesday, Thursday etc. Is this correct? :?: :?: :?: I have a chance to see this train either Tuesday or Thursday! Looks like it heads north through Royal Oak in the mid afternoon! Hopefully before dark!

Maybe you'll get lucky & those engines stay on 507/508.

I wouldn't expect getting it in daylight either. 507 usually works at Moterm between 5 & 6pm.
