Sounds like the GDLK was tied down in Plainwell all night.

You have me interested. E&LS doesn't have a connection to Billerud. They would have to use trackage rights on CN. I know you have good connections so let us know if you find anything else out.

I didn't know ELS could switch Billerud. Did they get the contract recently? Or did you mean L-P in Sagola?

Dispatches from afar: ELS 400 is working Billerud Escanaba - tanks on the head and a cut of boxcars on the tail - @14:00.
I didn’t say anything about L-P in Sagola in the post.

EDIT: this is a interchange yard with CN as well as an area to put cars if they are going to go to the paint shop. ELS trackage.

So after further examination, it looks like it’s an interchange track for CN or the switching company that actually switches the mill. Hopefully someone with some more knowledge of the ops can provide us details.

It certainly is an impressive operation and would be neat to model the city of Escanaba. I wonder if it’s ever been done?

Thank you for checking into it, LRF. It would have been nice if E&LS was switching the plant again bit it will have to remain a customer on my paper railroad only for now :)

Play the powerball and let's go buy it.

ADBF 822 today was solo working at Cavanaugh Yard around 10:30 - they had a cut of empty tank cars for the ZFS transload that came in VIA NS. More cars on the head end including 1-2 coils and a boxcar for either CSX or CN.

Went by the GRE yard at Ann St., line of cars for the next EB, with a tank and hopper for AMWAY and around 15 loads for King.

They’ll have quite the snowbank to plow through when they shove into Amway. At least 3 feet high on Fulton street.

I believe CN still switches the Billerud mill. The yard switcher from Gladstone still makes the trip several times per day.

ELS does not, as mentioned elsewhere, have a connection to the mill.

Nope, because we all told him to go to Ohio instead.

Not much room in Lowell for more cars, but King seems to keep working most days. Plus 8 or so BNSF cars south of town.
