Friend of mine spotted a string of covered hoppers in Muskegon being stored along Lakeshore Drive on the spur that went out to Sappi. Same location as Bing happened to catch MMRR years ago at: http://binged.it/VDXQG4

Thanks for letting me know Julie.

I heard natural gas prices dropped a few weeks ago and drilling slowed or stopped so sand cars are going into storage lines everywhere

just a few updates:

Michigan shore is currently working on winterizing the bridge in Grand have / ferrysburg. scheduled closure date is as usual the 15th of december.
On a side note, lots of other MOW work going on:
new rail in spots near the swing bridge, and lots of cutting and trimming going on along the main line between West Olive and muskegon.
North yard has had some work as well. Lots of new balast has been working its way through the yard starting at the north end.
73 is out of the house! The front axle has been removed though. (can anybody provide some information on what is going on with 73?)

and some general stuff:
the day crew that does all the work is based out of the ex GTW off henry. they start early in the A.M. working nugent, then to fremont (on tuesdays and thrusdays) (usually around 8am)
Afterwards they work nugents Barry Jct. loading facility.
Other north end industries are worked as need.
Webb is usually last to be worked although they sometimes switch in the morning.

Z627 crew goes on duty at 10pm and departs around 10:30

also been hearing possible rumors that the old Sappi mill is being looked at by 2 other companies: a chemical company and a filter company. note i have no confirmation on any of these yet.

I'm no expert, but it seems as if they took the truck out to take out a traction motor?

I have a question. Bayer gets 3-5 cars a month of some chemical that requires special handling. But from what I have read they come in single car loads. Is this three car block a different chemical?

No. Hydrochlroic acid, same as always. Probably just collecting empties there...

Z627-04 had a bit of trouble on the hill near henry. they made Bay at about 11:45 to set out 3 and pick up 1.
they went south from bay about 12:15 with 3839 (lead) and 3836 with 1 box, 29 sandies and another box on the end. (I thought i overheard them say it was to be set out as an extra one one of the yard tracks in waverly but dont take my word for it)
Nugent has been shipping about 20 to 30 a night. they have been very busy again.
tracks at webb are frequently full with 12+ tanks. They are being switched every few days.

Would you happen to see how many cars per switch at Webb?
