Another very old depot is coming down, with the 1868 Grand River Valley Railroad depot in Caledonia slowly meeting its end currently. The 153 year old building was deemed to be beyond saving and is being meticulously demolished. It appears the elevator that owns it in Caledonia has some plans to repurpose the materials from the depot, but for what is unclear.
Anyone have any photos of the railroad still intact in Caledonia? It came out in what, 82?

Re: Caledonia depot to be demoed
Didn’t the elevator say on the fb post that they are trying to save some of the wood to build into something or use to decorate the new expansion? Either way that’s a nice gesture and something they didn’t have to do.MQT1223 wrote: ↑Mon Jul 12, 2021 9:45 pmAnother very old depot is coming down, with the 1868 Grand River Valley Railroad depot in Caledonia slowly meeting its end currently. They have something planned yes but I don’t know how to interpret it. One second they say it’s being demolished and the next they say it’s not. I’ve had several communications with them to try and understand where it fits in.LansingRailFan wrote: ↑Tue Jul 13, 2021 8:13 amDidn’t the elevator say on the fb post that they are trying to save some of the wood to build into something or use to decorate the new expansion?
