St Joseph Michigan Central Building

Unread post by jrgerber »

Recently in another group I'm in an appraiser is providing pictures of properties that were purchased for an urban renewal project in St Joseph and Benton Harbor in 1964. He provided some pictures of the Michigan Central Building. This was the St Joseph South Bend and Southern Indiana RR which Michigan Central took control of in 1905. This line headed towards the St Joseph lakefront area I believe to serve Cooper Wells and maybe Truscott Boat and the line went under the Pere Marquette line by the swinging bridge and the Blossomland Bridge and hugged the river as shown in this photo and headed under the Napier Bridge by Memorial Hospital. I believe there was a bridge between Benton Harbor and St Joseph right by an older road bridge that was replaced by the current drawbridge over Morrison Channel.
