Pre-1982 C&O Photos

Unread post by railroadboy2020 »

I really know that C&O Line from Manistee - Traverse City - Petoskey has been stopped using in February 20th 1982. It was unknown when those tracks been pulled up between mid or late 1982 or early 1983.

Today, Old C&O Line Portions was operated by Great Lake Central. While Portion in Grawn is overgrown by trees weeds and bushes. and Portion in Williamsburg is without overgrowing trees

I wish there's a bunch of photos of C&O Manistee - Traverse City - Petoskey Photos.

Here is a video of a Chessie System train headed thru Alden, MI around the time frame. It looks to be shot from Lake Street in Alden. At 34 second in, it looks to be a 1981/82 Chevrolet Caprice. at 44 seconds, I can make out the squarebody, but it has the circle headlights which was last used in 79. I'm sure the depot museum would have some idea.

Wow, That was B&O GP9 blaring it's horn through the cars near the tracks. But sadly, There's no train in Alden. It just only rail trail.

I wish they had Chessie Train in Grawn photo though.

I don't think the Manistee-Bay View part of the line could ever have handled a C630!

That's why we retired C630 unit when we find out it's large enough to break any weak bridges. We replaced it with EX-Penn Central Nee-New York Central 6131. She's operating with her original NYC paint. We also upgraded weaker bridges with stronger ones.

We built an line from branch line to Empire, Michigan for passenger depot. We brought back C&O 614 as special excursion steam locomotive for Annie Folks or Resort Special.
