R.I.P. Lead singer/cofounder of the group, "Smashmouth," Steve Harwell, who was 56. He had been in hospice care, and was suffering from liver failure from years of alcohol abuse.

Cause: Vehicular assault.

Police Officer Bobby Garten was killed when his patrol car was struck by a fleeing vehicle at the intersection of Asylum Avenue and Broad Street.
The subject is in custody and charged with failure to obey a traffic control signal, failure to renew registration, misuse of plates, and interfering with a police officer.
Officer Garten had served with the Hartford Police Department for eight years. He was a second-generation police officer.


K9 Waro, Breed: German Shepherd. Gender: Male. Age: 3. Tour: 2 years, 6 months.
Clayton County Police Department, GA
EOW: Saturday, September 2, 2023
Cause: Gunfire

Officers from the Jonesboro Police Department had responded to a hotel on Tara Boulevard where they encountered three subjects with narcotics and weapons at about 1:45 am. Two of the subjects, including the juvenile, fled from officers as they were placed under arrest. The other subject was immediately apprehended, but the juvenile ran into a wooded area and hid approximately one block away. Assistance from the Clayton County Police Department canine was requested to search for the subject in the woods.

K9 Waro alerted to the subject, who then shot at him and the officers. K9 Waro was taken to a local veterinary hospital where he succumbed to his wounds.

The subject fled but was shot and killed several hours later when he was located near his home and attempted to shoot at officers again.

Actor David McCallum was known for roles in 'The Man From U.N.C.L.E.' and 'The Greatest Story Ever Told'
He died of natural causes at New York Presbyterian Hospital.

Crazy part of the day he passes is when CBS did a pre-scheduled "NCIS Day" by replaying the 1st and 45th episodes of the series as part of it. As expected, they did show an 'In Memoriam' after a replay of the first episode.
