Setting Up a Website

Unread post by GTW Dude »

Hey everyone, in case you didn't know I've been working on a passion project for quite a while called "The GTW Steam Archive" which tracks all remaining equipment from the GTW steam era (Post 1961) along with historic footnotes, photos, and more. I was wondering where I should start in order to learn how to host my own website. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Two things you are going to need. (a) Forum Software program (ie: phpBB like this site, or the one of your liking), and (b) a Hosting Site that will handle the volume of traffic (GB) you think it will handle with room for expansion.

The Software Package can be anywhere from Free to $$$. Obviously, if one buys something, the options and features are greater, than the Freebies.

The Hosting site costs depending on the amount of space, whether you share a spot on a Server, verses being "Dedicated Server".

A lot of research and your wallet, will dictate the direction you go in.
