While I'm on the subject of Nik Kershaw, here's a live version of The Riddle.

https://youtu.be/OS32CFN2l_w

Bonus for music theory nerds on why this song is so harmonically insane. Who says pop music is simple!

https://youtu.be/hSjjlPi_FBA

Note: that key change phenomenon isn't as noticeable in the live version.

I'm on a synth pop kick today so here's one last one for the night. It was a hit here in the states so you might recognize this one.

Level 42 - Something About You (live in 2018)

https://youtu.be/M4CmIVIxgOE

Fun Fact: guitarist Nate King, younger brother of bassist/frontman Mark King, plays in another band that I will be posting about in the near future. 1000 RRFan.com points to anyone who correctly guesses the band.

More music to share - early 2000's. I may or may not have had this song on repeat for a while today. Adding in the 2nd singer is definite early 2000's Linkin Park type style, and I like it like that:
Crossfade - Cold

Few other songs from Crossdade I like:

Been on a bit of a Morgan Wallen kick lately, I really like this song because Morgan sounds like he’s been rapping his whole life in this song, but this is his first time. I did use this song in my channel trailer.

No, Level 42 is the main band. His other band is the one I was asking about.

Nope. 1 more chance then I'll give it away. Their first album is considered to be a masterpiece in the prog world.

Nope.

The answer is Frost*

I'll be posting about them soon, including the dumb reason there's an asterisk in their name (which isn't pronounced when read aloud). Milliontown is a masterpiece, and their last 2 albums are both right there as nearly perfect in my mind. The second one was a bit of a miss but still has some good stuff in it.

At first I thought the * was because there was a band from Michigan in the late 60s called The Frost or simply known as Frost but it’s not. For you youngsters out there The band was formed by Dick Wagner who later went on to form a band called Ursa Major and then played lead guitar for Lou Reed on his Lou Reed live album. He then joined Alice Cooper and became his right hand man when Alice Cooper was at the height of his fame and he also played with Peter Gabriel.

Holy crap I can't believe someone actually got it! That's why they added the asterisk, they already incorporated the band and business entities in England where they’re from when they discovered there was already a band of some notoriety with that name. They were too lazy to come up with a new name so they just added the asterisk 🤣🤣🤣

Jem Godfrey is a treasure 🤣

Just one more word about Dick Wagner he grew up in Owasso and he also played with Aerosmith and wrote and produced a song called I can’t see you by The Cherry Slush which is also a Michigan band

My favorite rapper, Logic, just recently dropped a REALLY badass new song, decades. Anyone that likes rap will for sure like this.
There's two versions, one with just logic, and there's one with a young rapper named Jae Zole, who did a "duet" with him on TikTok, I'm including the former one

Be Advised: There is some language in this song, but it's rap, so whats new?

The two beginning verses are with beats that sound really modern, the second verse was produced almost with like a 90's vibe to it, almost giving me old Eminem vibes.

Sevendust - Shine
This is an alternate metal group, song out in 2001. Lead singer, Lajor Witherspoon, has such a powerful voice with a great range. The harmonies with the two guitarist adds to the song. Tempo of the song gets the motivation flowing:

Glad you enjoyed AARR. Have seen Sevendust in concert twice, excellent live shows.
Live version of Sevendust Shine if you are interested: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vaX-nooWVHM&t=1961s

Next up:
Green Day - Going to Pasalacqua: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2ccDwa9KHss&t=55s
Very strong beginning, crowd going nutz to start the concert. Find the song interesting how they kind of fade off between the verses, and at the top of second verse, there's another pause before they come back in intensity.
Entire concert linked is awesome. No phones back in 1994 to distract the crowd from the music.
Billie Joe Armstrong (lead singer) is freaking crazy, probably on drugs, especially at the start of She: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2ccDwa9KHss&t=3720s
Band is incredibly tight, playing together well.

Ozzy Osbourne - Perry Mason:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QapkGK-6G90
Zakk Wylde's riffs during the song are great to listen to. Enjoy the video where the chorus is sung, and shows the layering effect of Ozzy's vocals saying "We need Perry Mason" and "Calling Perry Mason again."

That’s a good tune. I understand Ozzy’s singing better than his talking.

More musings:
Live - All Over You: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GBorigq5eL8
So many great tracks on Live's Throwing Copper. This particular one has some good harmonizing with the various band members, and a up-beat tempo. Could use a little less repeating of the lyrics though.

Full live concert of this track and many others: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4tPfXmo1FoE&t=276s
