In a well-announced practice exercise, the Michigan Air National Guard practiced take-offs and landings of military fighter aircraft on PUBLIC HIGHWAY M-32 outside of Alpena, Michigan today.

The exercise lasted from 8:00 AM until 1:00 PM local time.

Why use A10’s? Practice with aircraft you’re actually using!

That is what the Air Guard wing out of Battle Creek uses. I think their mission is Ground Support using these slower Thunderbolts.

Maybe it's best to use aircraft capable of landing AND taking off on roadways?
If they weren't using them, what were they doing there in the first place?
