From the depot to the middle of Stoney Island is 1/2 mile per Google Maps at least.
I grew up on Grosse Ile. The line crossed Stony Island and extended out on a pier to the ferry dock.
I couldn't find a Chicago and Canada Southern employee timetable online.
That should tell where the milepost 0 was.
The current river geography is different than it was back then due to channel dredging and spoil dumping.

Definitely, the company in the picture is an easy clue also. At least it told me the location instantly..
