Looks to be a WB on the Michigan Line at Nichols Tower.....the Post cereal plant is in the background---the plant profile looks the same today when I come thru here

Yes it is. Aside from the track curving to the left now and no more H10's it looks much the same. This was taken in 1950.

The American Railroad Association Building at Purdue University. Built in 1926 to house a draft gear test stand.

What was the closest railroad? I'll go with The Purdue Railroad.

"...the recently built Purdue Railroad, which led from the switch near the present-day airport straight to the Locomotive Testing Laboratory. At just 1 1/4 miles long, the Purdue Railroad was considered the shortest line in the world, according to the Reamer Club book.

The Purdue Railroad proceeded north from the Monon Rail Line switch, east toward campus along what is now Harrison Street and then across State Street between Matthews and Stone halls. The tracks continued over the present-day site of the Class of 1950 Lecture Hall and on to the Locomotive Testing Laboratory."

For additional fun what is the closest model railroad?

You know, you can guess the answer and record it on here when you know it. I'll wait for someone to post where exactly we are, that is a park railroad on an island, which is where it be. I wonder if David Collins saw this when camping last week.

I am attending the PRRTHS meeting. I had the photo open on my phone trying to locate the site. A Pennsylvania resident sitting next to me told me the answer.

A hint and a story. Local legend holds that a "train" is at the bottom of a nearby lake. As the legend goes there was a temporary track over the lake in the logging days and a locomotive broke through the ice. Scuba divers say there is the remains of a log bridge in the bottom of the lake but no first person reports from someone who actually saw the "train".
