Yes, Schoolcraft. I thought it an interesting contrast with the older photo. The big trees are gone. They were cut down by the local Republicans for a photo op.

It is SEM. At one time 3 separate lines came into this city not far from this spot.

Carleton & Monroe are both good guesses. It is in Oakland County though.
Also, There is only one rail line going through town now.
Same spot from summer when MOW crews were working in that area.

Excellent choice, Michael. I'll try South Lyon because many years ago AARR went there at the same time MAL and PM.

Also on CSX between Plymouth & Howell.

With the exception of M-14 in Plymouth & I-96 in Howell, I think this is the only grade separation where the road is above the rails

Charing Cross Rd near South Lyon, in the middle of a large trailer park.

Impressive. Did you know it already or look it up on the map?

I had seen it on the map before. What is interesting is that the CSX line splits the trailer park in two, and the only access to the back half is over this bridge.

I thought that it might be a good quiet spot to take photos of passing trains from above but when I got there I saw the giant fence with a tiny mesh so you can't get the lens through the fence or throw beer bottles at trains. Plus the bridge is quiet narrow and much busier than I would have imagined. Then there are all the signs about private property, no trespassing, no standing on the bridge, etc...
I just snapped a quick one with my iPhone and left.

Connor, you are correct.
I found this looking for another find. I thought the old building was interesting, but also thought very recognizable to someone in the area.

In 1891 a branch line of a Northern Michigan railroad passed across this very spot to a depot and terminus just beyond the trees.

Looks like there are still rails in the pavement judging by what I see on the right side of the picture. Can we have a small timespan on when these rails were abandoned?

This town was started around 1850. With timber and other industries it boomed to a pop. of 3000 by 1900. Timber ran out and the town shrunk to almost nothing until the highway you see was built in 1950 bringing a vast tourist industry. The railroad managed to run until 1979.
