Called for K59825, at 13:30, with CSXT 9017 & 8038, with 67 loads, 8052 tons, and 3812 feet. We get on board, at 14:15, and depart, at 14:37, from Crandel Rd. At Union St., we see the following yard jobs, the Y11626, with HLCX 6299 & CSXT 2509, heading out to turn the power, and Y10126, with CSXT 6938 & 2293, picking up some steel coil cars to spot at a industry, both at 14:48.
We arrive at Vickers, at 15:00, and at 15:10, see 11M with NS 9328 & UP 4751, with 132 cars. We depart at 15:22, and at Pickel Rd., we pass the N94624, with CSXT 233 & 231, with 87 cars. As we pass him he tells us we have a hand brake 37 from the rear, so we stop at Seaman St., and the conductor and trainee take a walk. While we are stopped, we are passed by the Q21626, at 16:05, with CSXT 7639 & HLCX 9035, with 32 auto racks, and 17 mixed.
We depart from our inspection, at 16:16, and head north, to stop at Alexis, at 17:00. At 17:07, we see a southbound NS, with a GP38-2 horse head, and 9-40C, with 77 auto racks. At 17:20, we have a northbound, with a NS 9-40CW, and BNSF 9-44CW, with 152 cars. We depart, at 17:32, and pass the Y12126, with CSXT 900055, one covered hopper, and CSXT 2771, coming back from switching the industry, just north of Erie.
At New Boston, we see N90524, at 18:42, with CSXT 4724 & 785, with 95 cars. We stop a Eureka Rd., at 18:40, to wait for the Q24526, with CSXT 337 & 9036, at 19:08, and depart, at 19:08. We arrive at Wayne, to put away 30 of the cars at Wayne Industries, and then put the rest in Chevy Yard, at Newbergh, at 19:30. After we put away all the cars, we sit in the siding, for a hour, while D71426, goes over to the NS and comes back and switches out the cars. We put our locos, away, and head home arriving back at 23:50.

Yes it dose. Where as you may have a mixed freight, or coke train, with that much tonage, most of you mixed freight cars, do not have long draft gear (understood as slack), and coke cars have little to none at all. Where as the steel coil cars, have a couple of feet on each end. So you feel it more, and as you start to accelerate, the train feels heaver, until you get it all rolling, as the slack is taken up. It is hard to explain, unless you have been on very many trains, to feel it. Same is true in reverse, it takes longer to slow down, as you have to take up all the slack, and let the draft gear compress. Other wise, it is the same. Altough, I swar that it seems to me in the head, that it feels like it weighs more, than mixed freight, but 8000 tons is 8000 tons, no matter what it rides in.
