From the years of 2017-2018, I lived in the wonderful state of North Carolina, where I discovered one of the coolest passenger trains I've seen, The NCDOT/Amtrak Piedmont service, The service began in 1990, and offers 8 round trips a day! The equipment used is also very diverse, using Ex UP Heritage Cars and a mix of F59PHI and F59PH locomotives. Hop aboard, and let's discover the NCDOT/Amtrak Piedmont train!

Re: NCDOT's Piedmont Trains!
I lived there from March 2001 to September 2003, used to work these trains off the extra board ( back then, it was only one each way a day). The power was some ex- GO GP-40PHs' and a couple of the F59s' that NCDOT bought new from EMD. Hoping at some point that MDOT follows NCDOT lead and gets a maintenance facility built here in the state to work on the equipment that they own/lease
