Adrian derailment

Apparently there was a derailment in Adrian yesterday involving at least 1 ruptured tank car and 9 total. The car was leaking CO2. There were no reported injuries from the incident.

I dont think the railroad was listed, but my guess was NS.

ADBF had a loaded tank car of CO2 from Airgas get loose and roll into NS 358. Article in the NS/CP TLU thread

So it appears CO2 is coming from NS which explains why there hasn’t been any on CN in a while.

Can you link us to this thread? I can't find it. I'm trying to figure out where this tank car was being stored that it is just allowed to roll through a crossing.

Surprising that there was no electric derails at that diamond. I bet there will be now.

Someone wide told me that FRA mandates derails on any diamond that is PTC (NS) and non-PTC (adbf) if the PTC line is 40 mph or greater. Thru Adrian, it is not 40 mph.

That is correct.

They will get the CO2 directly from the ethanol plant. CO2 is a byproduct of the ethanol process.
