Soon to be new industry on Holly Sub in Waterford Township?
Something I've been wondering about for the past month or so. Does anyone know if the large facility being built on the SW corner of Dixie Hwy and Telegraph will be a rail-served industry? There are road entrances off of both Dixie and Telegraph. It's a large facility with lots of loading bays, building is built parallel to Holly Sub, looks to be quite pretty close to the siding that runs along the north of M2 line, just north of Pontiac Yard and also the wye off of the Pontiac Belt Sub. I've poked around online but couldn't find any local news, partially because it's hard to determine what the street address will be, since it has entrances off both busy roads. Seems like it would be silly if it wasn't rail-served, being built at a perfect location to do so.

I thought the new Amazon warehouse south of Moterm would get service, but it doesn't look like it. New service seems rare these days.

Probably receives indirect rail service via intermodal.

They are moving from 32717 Hollingsworth Ave in Warren.
Oddly enough, Conrail runs behind it. No rail service there.
They do have an intermodal service but I've never seen a Dayton Freight semi-trailer riding the rails.
I've never seen a Dayton Freight container either.

Dayton Freight doesn’t use intermodal services.DaveO wrote: ↑Thu Jun 08, 2023 6:44 amThey are moving from 32717 Hollingsworth Ave in Warren.

Thanks for the info, all! It's a shame they don't do intermodal, with such a prime location. Based on their current and future locations, I wonder if they pick the spots to have the option for rail in the future, or have it as a selling point for the property if they ever sell the location.

I would not count on that ever happening-- used to know a couple guys that worked there. If they did not use CR, they won't use CN. They seem to do real good with the system they have---trucks that move A. to B, usually overnight. Rail cannot even come close.

They link to another company they partner with. They don’t have their own equipment or anything.DaveO wrote: ↑Thu Jun 08, 2023 8:10 pmhttps://www.daytonfreight.com/logistics/ns8401 wrote: ↑Thu Jun 08, 2023 9:33 amDayton Freight doesn’t use intermodal services.DaveO wrote: ↑Thu Jun 08, 2023 6:44 amThey are moving from 32717 Hollingsworth Ave in Warren.

Right. But there are no Dayton Freight or Kelley Logistics intermodal containers floating around.
