Conrail Sterling Secondary Locals
The Conrail Sterling Secondary has multiple trains coming in and out south of the Sterling Yard. Does anyone know when the locals serve the local businesses north of the Sterling Yard? Also how many businesses use the railroad and what are the names of the companies. Also what days and times are good to catch the local movements?

The WS-20 (last known to be on duty at 5am) runs north of the yard to work Ford Axle, Transmission, Shuert. Word is Shuert tends to prefer to receive cars on Wednesdays.RoyalKingoftheRails wrote: ↑Mon Apr 17, 2023 11:48 pmThe Conrail Sterling Secondary has multiple trains coming in and out south of the Sterling Yard. Watching the NS 176 come north in the evening out of Oakwood is a way to get an idea of where the Sterling and North Yard locals will run the next day.
Sometimes a North Yard or Sterling Job will run between the two yards to move hot cars, CSX cars, etc.
The WS-16 (last known to be on duty at 1pm) switches the Docks.
The WS-34 (last known to be on duty at 4pm) works south of Sterling; Stamping, News, Stamping Scrap.
Metalsa may be worked on all shifts.
Due to the time overlap of the 16 Job, 2 local engines are now kept at Sterling. The above jobs work Monday thru Friday. Relief jobs work on the weekends, although weekdays are more likely to catch the harder to catch movements.

Mound Yard is worked by the NY-8 from North Yard in the Morning, then the engine is tied down for the NY-27 that comes on duty in the afternoon, works Mound, then returns to North Yard in the evening when done.
Sometimes NY-8 will run to Sterling if any cars are needed or to work Super Steel in Center Line.

Correction - they only use one unit now UNLESS they literally JUST changed that once again. This also means that there is no more WS-34, and all of the afternoon work is done by the WS-16 on at 11am.ConrailDetroit wrote: ↑Tue Apr 18, 2023 7:47 amThe WS-20 (last known to be on duty at 5am) runs north of the yard to work Ford Axle, Transmission, Shuert. WS-20 stuff is correct far as I know.
NS 176 (Oakwood to Sterling) is usually on duty at Oakwood at 5pm. Although on the relief days, it often changes a little bit.

Per Google map, there is only 1 spur into the Tank Facility, on the west side of the tracks. All the spurs that were on the east side of the tracks may still be in place, but it looks like the switches to them off the main have been removed.
