Pedestrian Strike on Grand Rapids’ West Side

Apparently there are people complaining of a stopped train on Grand Rapids’ West Side. Come to find out a Pedestrian was killed by a train in the 200 Block of Front SW at 9:43 last night according to GRPD.

Hope the crews are ok. I’m sure there’s a story to this one since things don’t move very quickly through here and horns are used liberally.

It had involved Y297-24 happening at Front Street mp CGE 0.38 They were not aware they had struck anyone & were advised by the RN Dispatcher when they were just north of Bridge Street mp CGE 1.07 & they were told to wait there @ 22:16

Y390-24 @ 02:55 at mp CGE 1.2 had copied their EC1 as the re-crew for Y297.

time stamp 21:59 - Y292 tells Dispatch they were told someone decided to lay underneath their train while they were stopped & servicing Joe Brown at mp CGE 0.3 (I don't know what business that is).

President and CEO of Exodus Place Robb Munger told FOX 17 that the victim was a member of the program.

Based on the crew’s description of someone “laying down” and the fact that the deceased came from a transitional housing program for persons trying to overcome various difficulties, it might be reasonable to guess that this was an unfortunate suicide.

But again, that is pure speculation on my part.
