M327 and M326 are now five day a week trains does anybody know if this is permanent?
Temporary operational decision based on traffic levels. Be on the lookout for changes in the future.

If this is in any way shape or form true and LRF is the source of this latest rumor I have to say I am incredibly incredibly proud of LRF.
Well done sir well done.

This actually has turned into a fun thread almost as fun as this classic(The angle of the dangle).

I think something important to note is that CPKC hasn’t confirmed they want to purchase the Plymouth sub, I do think it is highly plausible but for right now the only reason they are mandating CSX to fix the Plymouth sub is so if they do buy it is in good condition.

Sorry if someone already said this I don’t read all that much on Railroad Fan

just stop the nonsense.
any transaction of the sort must be filed with the surface transportation board.

there are no filings at this date.

cpkc still needs some one to take them around the bottom of lake michigan.
that is the issue and going through michigan or ohio has no effect on that little detail.

Only thing mandating CSX upgrading the Plymouth Sub is the FRA requires the signal system to remain active. These upgrades have been in the plans for years, but were always being pushed back for other properties needing attention first. The storms in the Fall that took out the codeline created a situation that forced CSX to act. Everything else is just being addressed while they have crews in the area.

Yes, there may be some thought to the future and possible resale value, but all work is being performed as in-house upgrades.

Without a doubt, any transaction that may include purchasing the Pere Marquette thru Michigan would include the trackage rights for the property, as well as they have their own via the NS currently.

Big picture? IF, CP were to actually do this, the Porter Jct project would also be a possibility to get the PM line connected to the Porter Branch to access the IHB, or the B&OCT at Willow Creek...or they may just do what they've done for over 100 years and run 482 to 497, 502 or 509 to access other routes in Chicago.

Yep, that is what the CP wants, a longer, slower route that will still require trackage rights on either end of the line.

I wonder if the CP ever wishes they still had the lines from Minneapolis though Sault Ste Marie to Sudbury to Toronto. I would think that it would be shorter and certainly less congested than through Chicago and Windsor.

I've wondered this also, but my understanding is that the traffic via Chicago to Windsor wouldn't be the type of thing running Sudbury to Minneapolis. It is mostly stuff from interchange in Chicago and south/west from there. Basically the Soo Line play to Chicagoland was the CP Rail system reaching down for more direct connections rather than give the haulage to the US Class Ones up to the border.

Sorry LRF, couldn't help it.

I will freely admit, that those who have known me many years...I may have bought into that way back when I was young, but I'd like to think that I'm a bit older and wiser these days. A select few of you might remember some stories...

Have a good day everyone.
