Manistee swing bridge

Unread post by TSS »

Someone posted on the Michigan Railfans Facebook group:

“ I see a sign posted by the approach signal to the swing 🌉 bridge for the Marquette Railway in Manistee. It reads “No six axle’s allowed “. Huh 🤔, why that all of a sudden appeared? Going to be rough to service the power, since the roundhouse is on the other side of the swing bridge, down by Mortan Salt 🧂.”

No one on Facebook has been able to give any additional info so far. Does anyone here know anything else? Is this new? I don’t know anything about the bridge except that it looks old and an embargo on six axle locomotives would be unsurprising. I don’t even know much about MQT operations up there and what power is typically used…

Seems like 4-axle units work around Manistee but I think I recall pictures of 6-axle units in the yard. :?

The sign is for the former PM yard east of the bridge, not the bridge itself.
