CN removing tracks in Flat Rock yard?

Unread post by Chip »

I just drove by the Vreeland Rd. side of FR yard and noticed that a track crew seemed to be preparing to remove some tracks from the north side of the yard. Anyone have any info on it? I've noticed that traffic through there has really declined in the last 2 years or so.

Maybe the rumors of the FR truck plant shuttering is true and the railroad maybe is preparing to modify the yard for less demand? Your guess is as good as mine...

They do not make trucks in Flat Rock...currently just the Mustang.

Ford will be building electric small SUVs there starting in 2023.

Trust me, no they won't. That plant will be closed when the UAW contract comes up for negotiations. It barely survived the 2019 negotiations.
