A delayed reply to some of these posts.

DCON tried to get that scrap yard at Mack to ship by rail. They may have even done one test car for them a few years ago, loading on the mainline.

That scrap yard on the CSX West Detroit Branch that is still shipping used to switched by the Detroit Terminal Railroad. Their mainline crossed the C&O right there. And this urban branchline at one time was the mainline of the Pere Marquette Ry. before Ford Motor built their Rouge Plant in Dearborn in the 1920's and PM rerouted their mainline that way to Delray and built their Rougemere Yard, pretty much replacing Oak Yard on the old route.

The mainline was rerouted to the current alignment between Oak and Delray in the early 1890s so the railroad could access Fort Street Union Depot.
