Re: Peaker service loco and shop updates
Heavy traffic, not to doubt your information sir but is Peaker actually capable of handling heavy traffic? They seem to turn units slowly (expectedly so I may add) and have limited space at their facility to really handle heavy traffic. Perhaps there will be an increase or uptick instead but it seems fairly slow but steady there. Not sure this will actually change. I have no reason to doubt that they will do some motor work and dpu install work for CSX as you report but heavy seems a little far fetched to this non-railfan.

Re: Peaker service loco and shop updates
Why are they still doing DPU work on CSX AC44s when they're about to be rebuilt in the first place?

Re: Peaker service loco and shop updates
Because they’re not all getting rebuilt right this second. Adding DPU is relatively simple compared to a full rebuild.

Per Facebook, Louisville and Indiana GP39-2 #2304 is at Ensel Yard today and likely bound for Peaker.

I do not doubt the veracity of the info above.AndrewsTrains wrote: ↑Wed Dec 21, 2022 3:36 pmFor peaker services expect some heavy traffic after the holidays, DPU csx work, plus some motor work
The CN contract they had was fun to watch too.

to also to respond to this. as i said ill be starting there soon. as well i do know a good insider close friend in the shop. hes been there since the late 80's. i belive he's a reliable source till i start. motor work is not for csx as well. different rr's just the blocks being shipped in via truckJetlink wrote: ↑Fri Dec 23, 2022 3:04 pmHeavy traffic, not to doubt your information sir but is Peaker actually capable of handling heavy traffic? Not sure if it was posted here or not, but GLC 329’s engine is/was being rebuilt at Peaker Services very recently.

Re: Peaker service loco and shop updates
The GP39 was never a very common locomotive model, especially in Michigan. Reading had some that showed up on trains to Detriot after the Conrail creation. D&H had some that I once saw at NW's Melvindale engine house. That might have been it for me. I wonder what the heritage of this one is?

LIRC’s GP39-2s are all ex UP/MKT.
