Yesterday 352 unfortunately struck and killed a trespasser in Ann Arbor. It is all too common for people to walk on the tracks in this area.

There was a guy on the Amtrak subreddit who was on that train and, among other things, was wondering why they wouldn't just let the people off the train & walk down the tracks to the station.

From somewhere around the curve and before the bridge over the river or something? Wonder why…

Idiots use the r-o-w as a hiking trail all the way out to the 40 signal, crossing from one side to the other or right beside the tracks....it sure would be nice if that high-dollar fence MDOT has been putting up would get put up thru this area as well

As for the comment about why psgrs couldn't get off the train, Amtrak is responsible for a person's travel between the two points listed on their ticket....pretty sure they don't want people getting off the train to walk into a station and then have said person get hurt somehow....there are already too many frivolous lawsuits nowadays

Exactly. I am under the impression this happened west of 37… that would be a bit of a hike to the station anyways not that a random passenger might know that.

Here's the same link but without the pesky Google Amp thing.
