5861 is a -2 and probably costs a little more than the straight 38's they've been buying. The new ROCK's primary business is car storage so they probably won't pay for top of the line locomotives.

The loco that the NEW Rock Island should be really interested in is GT/CN GP38 5861------it was the VERY LAST new loco acquired by the CRI&P.
PatC created a monster, 'cause nobody wants to see Don Simon no more they want AARR I'm chopped liver, well if you want AARR this is what I'll give ya, bad humor mixed with irrelevant info that'll make you roll your eyes quicker than a ~Z~ banhammer...

True----but if they want a real piece of history, they should go for it. The current locos look great, but are incorrect, as that dynamic brake blister gives it away real quick.

I don't think the New Rock is worried about their engines being accurate to the original Rock Island's specs. They are in business to move freight, not a museum.

  Wow, that didn't take long to get re-painted!!!!  Too bad we'll never see HESR 3068 (ex 204) ever again! At least there are still three "Original HESR GP38-2" locos still in "RA" colors working!!!! It won't be long before everything is gone and/or "Orange!!!!"

I can tell that you are very emotional regarding the use of the word “spotted.”

I hope this engine is scrapped just for you.
