There's new rumors going around that the MQT isn't giving the Michigan Shore an engine to replace the 2025 which was in the same boat as the 3868. So, I suppose time will tell for both. There was a motor swap today with the MMRR & the HESR 740 job in Genesee Yard, but the 3868 was due for it's 92 day inspection.
I just heard the same thing. Not sure if HESR 3868 actually got sold or if MMRR is just Leasing it from MEI now?? But I guess time will tell. If the inspection doesn’t pass they will have to get a replacement at some point.

Was confirmed yesterday by Bay City mechanical guys that the HESR 3868 is still leaving in due time. New rumor for a replacement on the St. Louis Sub is a G&W painted MMRR 2169, but that part is uncertain at this time.

Currently the MMRR has the HESR 3867.

MMRR 2169 and 2170, the ex NS GP38-2s replacing HESR 3868 and 2025, are still at MEI. 2170 has been painted and looks to be about finished, not sure if 2169 has gone through the paint shop yet or not.

Not replaced. HESR 3868 had to go in for it's 92 day, so the 3037 is filling in. It's expected the 3868 comes back for the remainder of time until the 2169 gets painted and sent up here.

So 3868 is sold to MEI once the 2169 comes up. And after that, i believe I may have helped it move onto its next life. Rock Island Rail is interested in the unit as it and its sisters are all originally rock island units. so keep your fingers crossed. i'm to let them know when the unit departs for MEI.

Motor swap in Genesee Yard with the HESR 800 job today. HESR 3037 is back to the HESR, while the 3868 is back on MMRR.

This doesn't have to do with the HESR 3868, but rather the Michigan Shore. The MMRR 2170 should be on the move for Muskegon in the next week or two. I would guess once the 2170 is on property, the HESR 2025 will leave.

Interesting to know that , while 3868 and her sisters are all actual ex- ROCK units, that the locos that the new Rock Island has are as follows;
4310-ex IAIS, ex Southern-GP38DC
4373- ex CSX, ex Conrail- GP38DC
1106- ex CNW - GP15-1
2003 - ex SSW- GP20E
2127 - ex CN, ex CNW - C40-8
3024 - ex DRGW -- GP30
Per the October issue of TRAINS magazine, which has an article about the New Rock Island.

It hasn't been reported on Q327, D702, D706, or the wiser, It could be in Waverly, it could still be active. I'm not sure.

MMRR 2169 was sighted in Avon on CSX earlier this week. Supposed to be handed off to CN (not sure where at) who will bring it to Durand for HESR or GLC to bring to the MMRR.

The loco that the NEW Rock Island should be really interested in is GT/CN GP38 5861------it was the VERY LAST new loco acquired by the CRI&P.
