  OH DARN!!!!!  Now one of the four "Original" HESR GP38-2s is gone? Man, they had these still on HESR intact and all four in RA colors!!!!
What does this mean for #3865/66/67?

Here's a picture (Canon® 35mm S.L.R.) that I (RLJ II) took of the Bluewater® "Pigeon Farmers' Festival" train in Pigeon, 7-24-1999 (#204 became #3868 in 2001):

Word is HESR 2025, which is currently on the Michigan Shore, was also sold to MEI.

I am glad three out of four are still here! Well, what happened to HESR GP38-2 #3868 to be sold to MEI?

It sounds like its worn out. MMRR and or MS will be getting a pair of ex NS (formerly Conrail) GP38-2s in exchange for 3868 and 2025.

Using a single GP38 on loaded grain trains will certainly age it much faster.

NS sold GP38-2's 5274, 5275, 5298, 5306, 5627 and 5629 to Metro East Industries. They should be coming from MEI out of this group of locos.

I don't think I've ever seen MEI re-stencil anything for themselves. They don't lease power, either.

MMRR made another motor swap today with the 740 in Genesee Yard. 3868 went in early for it's 92 day inspection it seems like and is back on the MMRR, still facing west.

Well RailroadingFan, looks like HESR GP38-2 #3868 wasn't actually sold to MEI! Where did you get your info? You can't always believe "Railfans" and I believed it too! HESR3868 posted March 8 about 3868's return!!!!

.....That doesn't mean anything. 3868 is likely not going to leave the MMRR until the new power arrives. It has been sold, I can tell you that much!

SD80 is correct. From what I've been told, unless it's a last minute decision, 3868 will stay as SD80 explained.

Huron & Eastern 3484 & 3485

Unread post by RailroadingFan »

Huron & Eastern Locomotives #3484 #3485 are out of service reported that 3484 & 3485 might be going to TPW Railroad after they fix them but with the way the railroad changes all the time I have no idea what is what. But 3484 & 3485 are out of service right now.

Nice photos of its past! I "Liked" the
"Rock Island Red" colors of the "Original" Rail America®! Does anyone know if any locomotives on other RA lines had these colors? :?:
I know
Huron & Eastern® is their "First" railroad I believe starting in 1987!!!! The red/silver/blue is awesome too!!!!

Here's a picture (Canon® 35mm S.L.R.) my Dad (RCJ I) took of the Bluewater® "Pumpkin Festival Train," GP38-2 #204 with old RA colors, crossing the Cass River, Vassar, MI, 10-10-1998:

Unread post by RailroadingFan »

As some of you know HESR 3485 has been out of Service about a Month ago however now it’s Got Shipping papers to go to TPW from what I heard. But it’s definitely Gonna be leaving soon. HESR 3484 is also supposed to be going to TPW as well but I haven’t seen a test run with HESR 3484 yet.

I actually unexpectedly saw HESR 3868 today, headed west solo, crossing M-52, just south of M-46. Terrible picture, but I barely had time to turn around and park when I saw the headlight approaching from the east as I was traveling south. This would be the MMRR, a couple miles west of Paines.

Looking northward on M-52, HESR 3868 has just cleared as it heads west.

There's new rumors going around that the MQT isn't giving the Michigan Shore an engine to replace the 2025 which was in the same boat as the 3868. So, I suppose time will tell for both. There was a motor swap today with the MMRR & the HESR 740 job in Genesee Yard, but the 3868 was due for it's 92 day inspection.
