I did a quick search - Union Camp was acquired by International Paper, so must be the same place.

WAMX 4189 is back on the Elk in the corporate colors. That leaves 4190 as the only WSOR unit left on the GDLK.

I don’t know about recent times, but earlier in the Grand Elk era, and in the NS era before that, Arvco in Kalamazoo was only switched by CN. In fact, it was typically the farthest north the Kalamazoo Switch Run would travel, unless they were going to Botsford for interchange.

I was just reviewing the industry list on the previous page. Very well done! You don’t need to list it, but I always counted the Michigan Southern interchange as a customer of Grand Elk. It’s a captive interchange and they are served by the local, and their set out and pickup are fairly similar to an industry set out or pickup.

Where does the Elk interchange with CN? Do they run a job from Botsford to CN Kilgore?

Hey Guys, GDLK Train 303 just went North out of Elkhart at 2:15pm today with 81 cars, 4 of which were loaded Coke Cars!!

Who on the Elk gets Coke?? Maybe its interchanged with JAIL or CSX??

Thanks.

MSO receives them and unloads them at the old gravel quarry where they have set up a series of Team Track unloading stations on the old spur

Any word on if OX Industries in White Pigeon (old White Pigeon Paper plant) is still actively using rail? I know they used to receive tank cars, but I believe they are now making different products at the plant.

Also, here is an interactive custom Google Map of the route and customers of Grand Elk that I have pieced together over the last few months. I was initially going to label every track line, but it became way too time consuming (yes, I did indeed mark every yard track at Gearhart and Hughart... ). If there are any corrections or errors please let me know by posting here or just shooting me a PM. The link was also be on the GDLK wiki page.

OX is making an uncoated product so there won't be any more tank cars there. Maybe MSO will convince them to rehab the dock spur and ship/receive cardboard/paper products.

NS is no longer running from Jackson or Battle Creek to Kalamazoo. All traffic is now coming from Detroit.

They get all the money if they move it all themselves. I’m sure that was a factor.
